PROJECT SUMMARY
February 2022, The replica Rose Hil Packet boat on display in the lobby at Parramatta Square
We were privileged to be apart of the preparation and installation of a complete replica of the Rose Hill Packet boat, known as the ‘the lump’ by first fleet convicts, which is now permanently positioned in the lobby of six Parramatta Square as part of the commissioned art collection, paying tribute to the Indigenous and European history of Parramatta. This 3 tonne sculpture took 1 and a half years to plan and create, giving us an immense amount of responsibility and pride in carrying out this lift.
We carried out the installation of the curtains suspended from the ceiling to cover the work area, continued by conducting all the top rigging and lifting of the boat to a workable height so remainder of construction could be completed. Lifted the mast into place on the boat for further construction and lifted this master piece to the desired height and tilt to be displayed to the public.
